He ended it with a claim.
In Matthew 7:28–29, the crowds are astonished—not just because Jesus taught well, but because He taught with authority. Not borrowed authority. Not secondhand tradition. His own.
In this episode, we look at how Jesus’ words throughout the Sermon on the Mount build to one unavoidable conclusion: He is not presenting Himself as a moral teacher, a prophet, or a spiritual guide. He is claiming to be the Messiah. He is claiming to be Judge. He is claiming to be God.
If that’s true, you can’t just admire His teaching.
You must decide.
Is He a liar?
Is He a lunatic?
Or is He Lord?
And if He is Lord… what does that demand of us?
