Innovative Folding Workbench Prototype

Workbench Top is a modified version of the very popular Ron Paulk design. I purchased his plans and built the top based on his specifications. The mobile base and folding mechanism is my own design. I have never seen anyone build a folding bench like mine before, so I wanted to make a video to get my idea out there and share it with the woodworking community.

One question you might ask about this project is how much width do you actually save when folding the bench up to make more room in the garage for a car. Well when the bench is unfolded then it takes up a full 96"x48" of floor space, but when folded, it's only 29" wide, so you get back 19" of floor space to make room for your car. This doesn't seem like a lot but you would actually be able to recuperate a lot more room if you used a thinner workbench top, for instance. The Paulk Bench is 8" thick, but if you made a top that was 2 in thick instead, then your bench would only be 23" wide when folded.
