• Today’s topic: Transitive Verbs & Intransitive Verbs.
1️⃣ TRANSITIVE VERB
🔹 Definition (Very Easy)
A Transitive Verb is a verb that needs an object to complete its meaning.
👉 It answers the question “what?” or “whom?”
Formula:
Subject + Verb + Object
🔹 Example (Basic)
• I eat an apple.
(What do I eat? → an apple)
Without the object, the sentence feels incomplete.
🟢 TRANSITIVE VERB – CONTEXT 1: Daily Life (5 Examples)
1. I drink water.
2. She cooks food.
3. He buys vegetables.
4. They watch TV.
5. We clean the house.
🟢 TRANSITIVE VERB – CONTEXT 2: Education / Classroom (5 Examples)
1. The teacher explains the lesson.
2. Students write notes.
3. I teach spoken English.
4. She asks a question.
5. He answers the exam paper.
🟢 TRANSITIVE VERB – CONTEXT 3: Work / Office (5 Examples)
1. He completes the project.
2. She sends the email.
3. They prepare a report.
4. I manage the team.
5. We attend the meeting.

👉 If there is an object, it is a Transitive Verb.
2️⃣ INTRANSITIVE VERB
🔹 Definition (Very Easy)
An Intransitive Verb is a verb that does NOT need an object.
👉 The sentence is complete by itself.
Formula:
Subject + Verb
🔹 Example (Basic)
• He sleeps.
(No object needed)
🔵 INTRANSITIVE VERB – CONTEXT 1: Daily Life (5 Examples)
1. I sleep early.
2. She laughs loudly.
3. The baby cries.
4. He runs fast.
5. They arrive late.
🔵 INTRANSITIVE VERB – CONTEXT 2: Nature / Surroundings (5 Examples)
1. The sun rises.
2. The wind blows.
3. It rains heavily.
4. The flowers bloom.
5. The river flows slowly.
🔵 INTRANSITIVE VERB – CONTEXT 3: Emotions / States (5 Examples)
1. I smile often.
2. She hesitates.
3. He agrees.
4. They argue.
5. We relax at night.

👉 If there is NO object, it is an Intransitive Verb.
🔄 VERY IMPORTANT NOTE (For Spoken English)
⚠️ Some verbs can be both Transitive and Intransitive, depending on usage.
Example: “eat”
• I eat. → Intransitive
• I eat rice. → Transitive
Example: “run”
• He runs fast. → Intransitive
• He runs a business. → Transitive
