Not the usual closed station, as Hawes Station in the Yorkshire Dales has been renovated and is now part of a museum, and comes with it's own steam train recreating the last train to depart in 1959.
Although I visited just before opening, the video shows the whole station area including the platforms, station building which is now a cafe and bike shop, weighbridge building and goods shed which is now the main part of the museum. The nearby station house also survives as a B&B.
The Dales Countryside Museum opened about 30 years ago and as such, it secured the long term future of the station site and it is now a popular tourist attraction in this lovely Pennine village.
Despite the line shutting over 60 years ago, and most of it now being the route of the preserved Wensleydale Railway, there are hopes that one day the line from Northallerton on the East Coast mainline to Garsdale (formerly Hawes Junction) on the Settle and Carlisle line could be reopened.
Filmed 10 September 2021.
