Описание: This is a dark, North Carolina folksong which uses imagery and insinuation to point out the injustices and practices used to build our great railroads. The day the Swananoa Tunnel was finished was the day of the last cave in. "Only" 40 men died in this cave in. The townspeople found a mass grave with over 400 convicts in it after the railroad workers left the area. They had died of pneumonia. I love the song. I found out the story. Released on his Greenback Dollar album in 1963. Originally called Swananoah Tunnel on the earlier Balladeer album. Hope you enjoy.
