Описание: On a cold April evening in 1812, on the approaches to this formidable fortress, thousands of Britain’s notorious ‘Redcoats’ crept in silence. Their objective? To scale three breaches, hacked into the city’s defences by enormous siege cannon, and to wrestle one of the key strongholds from Napoleon’s forces occupying Spain. That fight, destined to go down in history as one of the bloodiest episodes of the Peninsular War, was a short but ferocious one, with men falling by the hundred in the attempt to gain these walls. Within just a few hours, the fight was over, only to be replaced by a new horror, as a brutal retribution was unleashed by the attackers.
In this video, using the latest technology to view and understand the battlefield like never before, and with the words of those who survived that hellish night, we’ll re-create the events which history remembers as the Storming of Badajoz.
