This video will show you our journey through some of the secret tunnels in the Tenerife wilderness down Barranco Seco to a hidden beach in the cliffs of Los Gigantes called Playa Barranco Seco.
There are only 3 ways to get to this beach… Helicopter, boat or the hard way walking…….
The Routes
The route we took, planned on a map was 12km with 700m decent and 710m climb.
But because of bad GPS reception (location jumping around) and a lot of going 2 steps forward and 1 step back the GPS says we walked 20km with 750m climb… So the route is 12km if you know it.. If you don’t know it expect a long day in the hills.
The other route is 18km with 1140m decent and 1140m climb… And I imagine it´s very hard
The route we walked started and ended in Tamaimo it was easy going with only one way to follow once you find the first tunnel and it is relatively flat.. But once you get to the barrancos the trail seems to disappear into multiple goat runs mixed with boulders to climb over. So you can waste a lot of time moving no where… LOL

There are a few tunnels in this route so you will need a torch or a helicopter, we were lucky and found all the gates open but we don’t know if that is always the case.

Water, food and electrolytes
Standalone GPS unit (A phone wont get GPS signal)
