For 2-year-old Merritt and her family, it's been a challenging journey and a test of patience as they wait on the transplant list for a heart. Merritt, who was named for Omaha Supernovas player Merritt Beason during Beason's playing days at Nebraska, has been hospitalized at Children's Nebraska's Criss Heart Center since February 2025. The long, trying days away from home have added up while the toddler receives life-saving cardiac care. But a recent heartwarming visit to Children's finally brought Little Merritt and Big Merritt together, creating the joyful memory of a lifetime.
