Captagon is a substance you might have heard of before. As it turns out, a very significant portion of the global supply up until 2024 was created by Bashar al-Assad and stage managed by his younger brother Maher al-Assad. Together they made billions for their Syrian war machine but the people of Syria never saw a dime. They even roped in Lebanese gangsters like Muhammad Hassan Daqqou and Nouh Zaiter.

And according to some sources, the industry may have been up to 50 billion dollars in revenue yearly.
