Review of the 100 Megapixel FUJIFILM GFX 100 for filmmakers

Sure, sometimes that means more latitude, a better codec, and heaps of professional features.

But more often than not, in my experience, SPEED is one of the things that hurt most filmmakers.

If you can't get your camera ready and focused before the moment happens, well then . all that dynamic range and resolution sure doesn't mean a whole heck of a lot.

And that's why the new FUJIFILM GFX 100 excites me so much. It is a bridging of both worlds–quality and speed.

We're so pumped because the FUJIFILM GFX 100 has a MASSIVE medium format sensor (that's 1.7x the Canon 5D) along with a super impressive in-body-image-stabilization.

This means some amazing handheld options in such a small package.

So much so that we shot this entire review handheld. Like macro shots, moving shots, the talking head interview portion–all of it handheld.

But of course, even if the video is smooth, the codec needs to be top notch. A big reason we've shot so much on Red over the past few years is because of how well the codec retains information and gives you options in post.

The GFX 100 allows for 4k video at 4:2:0 and 10-bit in camera.
