Ardfry House located at Rinville, Oranmore, Galway #ireland
Ardfry House was the family home of the Blakes,one of fourteen famous ‘Tribes of Galway’ families.
The house dates to c 1770 and adjoins an earlier medieval castle. It has been in ruins since the mid-20th century.
The house was residence to Lord Wallscourt (Joseph Blake), about whom it is said that liked to roam naked and was made to wear a cowbell by his wife to warn the maids of his approach.
The house received another brief facelift during the early 1970s when it was re-roofed and refenestrated for use in the Paul Newman film,
'The Mackintosh Man'. It was deliberately set ablaze during the production of the movie and is now ruinous.
