Chevy’s Rounded Line pickups proved hugely popular with customers; so much so that it was almost 20 years before the next generation of trucks launched. This solid truck comes to us from Oklahoma.
This Silverado Custom Deluxe example has a cab and chassis with a flatbed in the rear. It was made in General Motors’ Fremont, California factory (VIN code Z).
Finished in Cream with complementary brown trim, the truck’s paint and trim are in overall very good order. The truck’s bodywork is straight and solid, the engine bay is tidy and the chrome front bumper with guards fits tightly to the body. The flatbed is made of corrugated metal, painted black.
This C10 rolls on new Mastercraft Courser MXT light truck tires, size 31x10.50R15 at all four corners. Date code: 2022. Each tire is mounted to a factory and vented alloy wheel. The tires and wheels are in overall very good order. The truck rides a 131.5-inch wheelbase and has a 5,500 GVWR.
Under the hood is a 350 CID V-8 engine with an aluminum intake manifold, exhaust headers and a 600 CFM Edelbrock carburetor with a companion air cleaner housing. This motor is mated to a Turbo Hyrdamatic 350 three-speed automatic transmission. Driver convenience features include, variable-ratio power recirculating ball steering and power brakes with discs in front, power windows and power locks. This was an A/C truck but has no compressor now.
This truck has the following new parts – body trim, upholstery, dash pad, carpet, headliner and window and door rubber seals.
New brown cloth and vinyl cover the bench seats and looks great. There’s new tan carpet, a new headliner, and the original two-spoke steering wheel. The brown over cream dashboard has a new dash pad with chestnut wood grain inserts were used on the dashboard and doors for further visual enhancement. The dash comes with a full array of gauges. A column-mounted shift lever and an AM/FM radio complete the interior.
Full-time four-wheel drive pickups featured a two-speed New Process 203 transfer case with center differential and lock. Five positions were provided: High Loc, High, Neutral, Low, and Low Loc. In High the center differential was unlocked and allowed the front and rear propeller shafts to slip as needed for full-time operation. The system could be manually shifted into High Loc which locked the center differential for a locked 50/50 torque split. Low and Low Loc applied reduction gearing with or without lock, depending on the mode selected. Neutral was also available for use of the PTO.
For 1977, the front fascia underwent a second revision, with both Chevrolet and GMC receiving larger-segment grille designs. On all trims, the interior received revised door panels (covering a larger portion of the doors). As an option, the C/K offered power windows and power door locks for the first time.
Competition to this C10 in 1977 included Dodge’s D100, Ford’s F-150, GMC’s Sierra 1500 and Jeep’s Gladiator.
If you are a fan of the Rounded Line style of GM’s full-size trucks, or if you are looking for a new way to advertise your small business, this C10 might just fill the gap or hit the spot. You decide after visiting MotoeXotica Classic Cars.
