The Men in Green got on top of the Aussies in the series opener on Thursday and lead the series 1-0 with a thumping 22-run win at the same venue.

Australia will be further bolstered, with captain Mitchell Marsh, Josh Inglis, and Marcus Stoinis available for this game and the next, after they were rested for the first T20I due to workload management following the conclusion of the Big Bash League Season 15 finals.

In Marsh's absence, Travis Head led the tourists in the first match, with the Kangaroos handing debuts to three players. Xavier Bartlett removed Sahibzada Farhan on the first ball, but handy contributions from Saim Ayub, Salman Ali Agha and Babar Azam steered them to a good position. However, a middle and lower order collapse saw them being restricted to 168/8 after winning the toss and opting to bat first.

Adam Zampa was fabulous, scalping 4/24. Bartlett and debutant Mahli Beardman picked up two wickets each. The all-rounders filled in for the remainder of the overs, but failed to make inroads.

Ayub then starred with the ball for Pakistan, dismissing Matthew Short and Head. The latter was looking in fine touch, but failed to convert his start to a big one. Cameron Green tried to anchor and top-scored with 36 off 31 balls, but the middle order failed to adapt to the conditions and support their number three. Bartlett's late burst could only reduce the losing margin as Australia ended at 146/8.

Abrar Ahmed was unreal, finishing with 2/10. Mohammad Nawaz and Shadab Khan were superb, pushing the tourists into the spin trap. Shaheen Afridi didn't pick up any wickets on his return to cricket from a knee injury.

Seamer Mohammad Wasim Jr has been released from the T20I squad for the rest of the series.

Pakistan will aim to seal the deal with a game in hand, while Australia, under Mitchell Marsh, will look to level the series.
