Tirupattur SP saves life of old man who fainted after having seizure.

An elderly man's life was saved by the Superintendant of Police (SP) Vijayakumar in Tamil Nadu's Tirupattar.

The elderly man who was walking on a road in Vaniyambadi had fainted and developed seizure. A few police officials who were present there rushed to help the old man, and were waiting for medical help to reach. SP Vijayakumar, who is a trained doctor as well also came to help the elderly man.

Vijayakumar immediately got into action and gave first aid to the elderly man before the medical help could reach the spot. The man was later taken to the hospital.

“The old man developed seizure and as a trained medical professional, I was able to provide immediate first aid. I checked on him a few hours after the hospitalisation. He is stable,” said Vijayakumar.

At a time when social distancing and not touching others have been advised to prevent the spread of Covid 19, there is a lot of stigma and fear among the masses. Vijaykumar said, “There is no need to stigmatise. In dire need like these just ensure the precautionary measures are in place. Wear gloves before touching the person. Wash your hands after.”

“This (COVID-19) is just a disease and all that is needed is medical attention. There is no need to stigmatise or ostracise,” added the SP. There are 18 cases registered in the newly formed district so far and the district falls under the orange zone currently.
