Trosky is a ruin of a castle on the top of the hill of the same name in the cadastral territory of the village of Troskovice in the district of Semily in the Liberec Region. It is located in the Protected Landscape Area Bohemian Paradise and also in the Bohemian Paradise Geopark. The castle is owned by the state (administered by the National Heritage Institute) and is open to the public. It has been classified as a national cultural monument since 2002.
The castle was founded in the fourteenth century. It played an important role during the Hussite wars, when it belonged to the Lords of Bergov and, together with other castles in the area, formed an important support for the
Catholic party. The castle withstood two sieges at that time and was not conquered until 1469 by the army of King George of Poděbrady. From the second half of the fifteenth century Trosky ceased to serve as a residence of the nobility. It belonged to the estate of Kost Castle and later to Hrubá Skála. In the last third of the Thirty Years' War the castle was alternately occupied and conquered by Swedish and imperial troops. After the war it was no longer maintained and gradually turned into a ruin.

Čeněk of Vartenberk is considered to be the founder of Trosky.The first written mention of the castle dates back to 1396, when Čeněk was already dead and referred to with the surname "of Trosky". According to the results of archaeological research, the castle was founded in the fourteenth century, but significantly before the first written mention.

The characteristic dominant feature of the castle is a pair of towers on the buttresses, between which is located the elongated castle core with two palaces. Along the northern side of the core stretched a fortified forecourt. The form of the castle is strongly influenced by the exceptional site, but the layout of the buildings nevertheless shows an attempt to achieve the bipolar balance typical of castles of the two-pile or two-tower type.
