A big welcome to Clare Fryer, indie author, of THE INVITATION - a fantasy fiction set in faraway Anacadair, where Millie, just turning 16, receives an invitation, which her mother snatches from her, and from then on, the family flee for their lives.

A novel filled with excitement and tension, where nothing about your life is what it appeared to be. Millie and her family must flee pursued by the Guard and their Watchers. The peril they are in cannot be underestimated. Nobody who had been caught by the Watchers has ever been seen again.

There is a sense in this story about identity, memory and the stories we tell ourselves to survive.

A great story for many ages, and her sequel The Dark Covenant, picks up a few months after the conclusion of The Invitation.

As Clare says - I love writing as a form of escape, helping my mind relax and the words to flow from my fingers. Nowadays, typing is far easier than handwriting, though. I don’t write every day, but I do when I have time and feel the urge. It means I’m not the fastest writer, but when I write, I can usually produce 3-5k words or more in a short time. I’m an obsessive writer, and when I’m writing, the hours just fly by as I become completely absorbed in the story. I forget to eat or drink unless I take a bowl of snacks and a drink to my office.
