102 MIN DELAY! TUI Boeing 737-8K5 (ZZ) Rhodes Diagoras to London Stansted - Red-Eye flight

Описание: A bittersweet way to end our brilliant holiday to Rhodes with TUI. Flight BY5645 departing at 22.30 onboard a 12 year old G-FDZZ on Saturday 3rd August, although the actual departure was on the 4th August. Unfortunately off to a frustrating start, our original coach transfer that was meant to pick us up at 19.10 never showed up. So it not much in the way of time when we arrived into Diagoros airport however the lovely assistance people whisked us to the front of the queue and escorted us all the way through security. I was really impressed with the assistance people and they couldn't have helped us enough.

Once onboard, I am greeted by First Officer Gavin! The same guy that took me to and from Ibiza last year.
Unfortunately, we were blessed with a delay and sat on the ground for an hour before we pushed back and made our taxi out to Runway 24 at Rhodes Diagoros. Apologises for the jump cut shortly after takeoff, I lost control of my camera however fortunately I quickly recovered it. By this time it is past midnight, and most of the people around went to sleep but in the meantime I ordered myself some chips and unfortunately I could not rate them either. In my opinion, they were overcooked. However this is not TUI's fault as such because they use a catering company but is an area of improvement for them. This flight was honestly pretty boring and uneventful, I let my dad sit next to the window during the cruise, and I actually briefly fell asleep, although I did do the rubbish round again but was just met with sleepy passengers.

As we approach the English Channel over Luxembourg the turbulence picks up slightly and we make our approach and landing onto Runway 22 at Stansted. Once on stand, another trip to the cockpit followed by a system shutdown. Thanks Gavin!

Just under 1 year later on the 28th July 2025, this exact aircraft was involved in an incident where the aircraft became disabled on the runway at East Midlands Airport due to a punctured tyre. Fortunately no one was hurt and the aircraft can be repaired.
