“Damaged tread or sidewall of tire, is a minor defect, i will put it in the book, call the operator, and continue driving. However, tire tread depth is less than the wear limit; tire is in contact with another tire or any vehicle component other than the mud flap; tire is marked not for highway use; and tire has exposed cords in the tread or outer sidewall area, are all major defects and I will put them in the book, call the operator, and stop driving.”

Demonstration

Inspect the outside sidewall and state “I see no damage to the outside sidewall.”
Inspect the tire tread and state “I see no damage to the tread.”
Inspect the inside sidewall and state “I see no damage to the inside sidewall.”
Place a finger tip into the tread to inspect the depth,
and state “my tread depth is not below (1.5mm/rear 3mm/front).”
Inspect behind tire for contact and state “my tire is not in contact with another tire, or any vehicle component.”
Inspect the outside sidewall for markings and state “I see no marking not for highway use outside.”
Inspect the inside sidewall for markings and state “I see no marking not for highway use inside.”
Inspect the outside sidewall for cords and state “I see no exposed cords in the outside sidewall.”
Inspect tire tread for cords and state “I see no exposed cords in the tread.”
Inspect inside sidewall for cords and state “I see no exposed cords in the inside sidewall.”
