A very rough test simulation of a Savonius turbine using OpenFOAM.
The video shows the pressure distribution, computational mesh and velocity vector field around two rotating buckets. You can see discontinuity on the arbitrary mesh interface (AMI) because of the present low resolution meshing (it will be easily fixed in practical simulations).
2D condition; pimpleDyMFoam; tip speed ratio is 1.0; the Reynolds number based on the diameter and free stream velocity is 1000 (it means the selected k-omega turbulence model does nothing yet); flow direction is from left to right; The thickness of bucket is 0 (it is emphasized in the visualization).
