Matter - Anything that occupies space and has mass is called matter. Matter can exist in three different states. The three States of matter are solid, liquid and gas,
Solids-
Solids have fixed shape and fixed volume.
Solids have least intermolecular space.
The intermolecular force of attraction is maximum in solids.
Solids cannot flow.
Solids cannot be compressed easily.
Liquids-
Liquids do not have fixed shape, takes the shape of the container but liquids have fixed volume.
Liquids have less intermolecular space.
The intermolecular force of attraction between the particles is not as strong as in solids.
Liquids can flow and can be compressed to a small extent.
Gases-
Gases do not have fixed shape and volume, spread out to occupy the entire available space.
Gases have large intermolecular space to move freely.
Intermolecular force of attraction between the particles is negligible.
Gases can flow and can be compressed easily.
