Hiking the Kildoo Trail in Historic McConnells Mill State Park

As if we didn’t get enough of cold weather in Alaska, we’ve decided to try RV camping in the cold Pennsylvania winter! Finding campgrounds that are open in the winter can be tough, and in Western Pennsylvania, even tougher. We often forget about Core of Engineers campgrounds, but this one won’t soon be forgotten, and neither will this adventure!
Shenango Recreation Area, is about the only budget friendly campground in Western Pennsylvania. As luck would have it, it’s open year round, and it's just the perfect place to spend the weekend exploring scenic mills.
The second historic mill on our list, is none other than McConnells Mill. One of Pennsylvania’s most beloved State Parks, McConnells Mill also offers some of the most scenic waterfalls along the Slippery Rock Gorge. This place makes everyone’s list of Pennsylvania favorites, but does it make ours?
