Salamanca is a beautiful and welcoming city located in the northwest of Spain, in the community of Castilla y León, 212 kilometers from Madrid.
It is a stunningly beautiful city, and it’s no surprise that the entire historic centre is a UNESCO heritage site. Wandering its cobbled streets and discovering the incredible architecture and arty cafés is a delight at any time of year.
Salamanca is famous for its sandstone buildings. Thanks to this stone, when evening comes, the light of the setting sun gives the monuments a special golden hue. This daily transformation as earned it the nickname of “La Dorada” aka Golden City.
Among these sandstone buildings is its University, founded in 1218, is the oldest in Spain, and one of the first in Europe, along with those of Paris, Oxford and Bologna.

Salamanca es una hermosa y acogedora ciudad ubicada en el noroeste de España, en la comunidad de Castilla y León, a 212 kilómetros de Madrid.
Es una ciudad increíblemente hermosa y no es de extrañar que todo el centro histórico sea patrimonio de la UNESCO. Pasear por sus calles adoquinadas y descubrir la increíble arquitectura y los cafés artísticos es una delicia en cualquier época del año.
Salamanca es famosa por sus edificios de piedra arenisca. Gracias a esta piedra, al anochecer, la luz del sol da a los monumentos un tono dorado especial. Esta transformación le ha valido el sobrenombre de “La Dorada”.
Entre estos edificios de piedra arenisca se encuentra su Universidad, fundada en 1218, es la más antigua de España y una de las primeras de Europa, junto con las de París, Oxford y Bolonia.
