DEATH + REBIRTH | JCI FASHION SHOW 2022

Описание: Death + Rebirth is a concept that celebrates the process of life and death. It reflects the process of going through hardships, pain, and mourning during our lifetime and the rebirth and growth that we experience as a result. The meaning of this mosaic is not taken in the literal sense. It does not depict someone dying and being reborn, but rather it is a celebration of the experience of going through hardships, pain, and mourning to become a better person during our lifetime.

The colour scheme and fabrics chosen for this show were designed to be neutral in order to represent the basic anatomy of humans. The fact that the garments are made up of layered, textured fabrics is meant to represent the human body, while the loose threads mimic the free-flowing energy of life. The deconstruction and reconstruction of the garments are meant to symbolize rebirth and new life, just like new skin replaces old skin.

For staging and setup, vintage TVs and cameras are used to project different angles of the garment. When we look at old technologies, it gives us a sense of nostalgia and makes us reflect on the past. Similar to that, we want to use the TVs as a reminder and reflection of our past selves and how we have changed over time.
