Earthquake of 7.1 magnitude hits Tibet, Nepal; tremors also felt in parts of India | N18G

Описание: On Tuesday morning, a magnitude 7.1 earthquake struck near the Tibet-Nepal border, resulting in at least 50 deaths and 60 injuries. The earthquake occurred at 6:35 a.m. IST, with its epicenter in Tibet, approximately 93 kilometers northeast of Lobuche, Nepal, and at a depth of 10 kilometers. Tremors were felt in Bihar and parts of North India. The epicenter, located near Lobuche, is close to the Everest Base Camp and around 150 km east of Kathmandu. China's earthquake monitoring agency recorded the quake at magnitude 6.8. Following the main shock, two aftershocks of magnitude 4.7 and 4.9 struck the region. Nepal, situated in a seismically active zone, is prone to such earthquakes. The country experienced its deadliest earthquake in recent history on April 25, 2015, when a magnitude 7.8 quake killed nearly 9,000 people. The region had previously faced a deadly quake in 1934, with over 8,000 fatalities.
