IVF treatment often leads to questions about the number of eggs retrieved and how many will actually mature. In this case, a patient gave us 10 eggs, out of which 8 were mature (metaphase 2) and 2 were in the immature stage (metaphase 1). Despite the initial uncertainties, we performed ICSI (intracytoplasmic sperm injection) on all 10 eggs.
Out of these, we were able to create 6 embryos by day 5, which is nothing short of a miracle. On average, the blastulation rate is around 35%, meaning for 10 eggs, 3 to 4 embryos typically reach the blastocyst stage. But here, this patient achieved 6 embryos, with 4 of them being excellent quality. Two were slightly below that but still of good quality.
Out of the 4 top-quality embryos, we transferred two, and incredibly, she conceived on the very first attempt. This outcome is rare and speaks to excellent patient factors, showcasing how a favorable environment and good quality embryos can lead to success in IVF.
