The journey began from Kizhakkekotta, and along the way, amidst a rainy day, we traversed various roads in the Trivandrum region, including NH66, LMS Vellayambalam Road, State Highway 2, and Palayam Airport Road. It was a wonderful experience witnessing the rain during parts of the journey.

The Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (#KSRTC) has introduced open double-decker buses for tourists visiting the capital city (Trivandrum, Kerala, India). The seating arrangement inside allows tourists to enjoy splendid views of the city during both evening and night.

For the initial promotional offer, the fare is set at Rs 200 for both day and night trips separately. However, travelers opting for both trips can avail them at a discounted rate of Rs 350. Post the initial phase, the fare will be Rs 250 per trip, amounting to Rs 400 for those booking both day and night journeys together.

Mr. Mohamed Riyaz, the Tourism Minister, officially launched the KSRTC city ride bus in Thiruvananthapuram and expressed plans to extend the service to other cities in the future.

The Transport Minister, Shri K. B. Ganesh Kumar, personally drove the iconic SWITCH EiV 22 open-roof buses, showcasing a dedication to eco-friendly leadership. These state-of-the-art electric buses, designed and manufactured by SWITCH, will operate between various tourist spots in Thiruvananthapuram, offering a unique and immersive journey for passengers.

Painted in distinctive blue and brown shades, the SWITCH EiV 22 open-top buses are set to become prominent tourist attractions in Thiruvananthapuram. Mr. Mahesh Babu, CEO of SWITCH Mobility Automotive Ltd., expressed delight in supporting Kerala’s vision for sustainable progress through this collaboration with KSRTC. He emphasized that the open-roof design allows passengers to enjoy panoramic views, creating unforgettable experiences that go beyond traditional sightseeing.

The SWITCH EiV 22 buses, launched in August 2022, are equipped with advanced technology for cleaner and smarter journeys. They feature extra-wide doors, emergency exits for safety, and accommodate 65 seated passengers (35 on the upper deck and 30 on the lower deck). With a 231 kWh battery pack using advanced lithium-ion NMC chemistry, these buses offer an impressive 250 km range per day. Innovative solutions like ‘SWITCH iON’ enable remote diagnostics and real-time monitoring, ensuring efficient operations.
