In July 2025, the Chronos Ensemble presented a new concert program at the festival in the Abbey of Sylvanès. This program is dedicated to the musical heritage of Ukraine, from the era of medieval Kyivan Rus’ to the Baroque period and modern times. The music of Kyivan Rus’ had never before been performed in concert programs. For more than a century, the scholarly community believed that this music could neither be restored nor reconstructed, due to the illegibility of Old Slavic notation. We managed to establish that the music of Kyivan Rus’ represented a Slavic reception of the Byzantine cathedral repertoire, which was performed in Hagia Sophia Cathedral before the sack of Constantinople by the Crusaders in 1204. Knowledge of ancient Byzantine notation made it possible not only to interpret this little-known Byzantine repertoire, but also to reconstruct its Kyivan version. For this purpose, research was carried out in the libraries of Sicily, the Vatican, Athens, and Paris.
At the concert, selected chants from Holy Week and Easter, as well as the oldest liturgical chants, were performed. This music resounded for the first time after eight centuries of oblivion.

The second part of the concert program presented the finest examples of the Ukrainian polyphonic concerto. This was Baroque music written in the best traditions of Italian composers such as Monteverdi and Gabrieli. The program included concertos by anonymous Ukrainian composers of the 17th century, including Paschal stichera, as well as the Eucharistic canon (Anaphora) of the liturgy by the great composer Mykola Diletsky. The Baroque polyphonic concertos alternated with examples of Kyivan znamenny chant and archaic Slavic polyphony of the 16th century.

The final part of the concert featured selected examples of Ukrainian folklore and works by the renowned contemporary composers Valentyn Silvestrov and Tetiana Yashvili.
