This clip primarily consists of footage of Task Force Beaty, Combat Command B of the 7th Armored Division in and near Schliprüthen in Nordrhein-Westfalen (North Rhine - Westphalia) Germany on April 11, 1945. According to the 7th Armored Division after action report, the action for the day was as follows:
C C "B" CONTINUES ATTACK At 0730 on the morning of the 11th, TF CHAPPUIS continued to attack to the northwest and captured NEDER SALWEY (2795) at 1000. TF BEATY moved from KOBBENRODE at 0945, passed through TF CHAPPUIS in NEDER SALWEY at 1100, and turned west toward OBER SALWEY (2595). Here strong defensive positions were dug in around the town. After a coordinated attack by dive bombers, artillery, tanks, TD's, and infantry, the town fell at 1400. SCHLIPRUTHEN (2493) was the next objective and was caught in a pincers movement by TF BEATY from the east and TF ERLENBUSCH from the west. Dive bombers and artillery hit the town, and as the task forces converged, the burgomeister came out and surrendered it. TF ERLENBUSCH secured the town for the night. TF BEATY returned to OBER SALWEY and consolidated for the night while TF CHAPPUIS remained in NEDER SALWEY. The 489th Armd F A Bn was detached from Combat Command "B" at 1200.
