The day in the life of a worldschooling family!

Before we started travelling I had never even heard of the term “world-schooling”. Now, two years later we are doing a mix of world and home-schooling. This is just one of the many alternatives to the traditional school system!

WHAT IS WORLD-SCHOOLING?

Basically, the world is your classroom! 🌍 Instead of traditional schooling, we combine hands-on experiences with educational resources, allowing the places we visit to shape learning.

HOW DO KIDS LEARN?

🏫 Local classes & workshops – language lessons, cultural activities, cooking, and sports

🏛 Real-world experiences – exploring historical sites, museums, and nature firsthand

🐠 Interest-led learning – following passions like marine biology by snorkeling in the ocean

🤝 Community & play – making friends with local kids and other worldschooling families

Every family does it differently—some use online tutors, follow a structured curriculum, or attend worldschool hubs (or a mix of everything).

WHAT IS A WORLDSCHOOL HUB?

Hubs are opportunities for groups of world-schoolers to connect, usually in one location, for a few weeks. They often offer accommodation, workshops, and activities led by facilitators or qualified teachers. Each one is unique depending on the country and educator!

We’ve attended one in Egypt, and it was an incredible! Some hubs are structured, while others are more organic meet-ups where kids and families connect naturally.
