Kite Fishing CHAOS: Doubled Up on Sailfish in Key West

Описание: We spent the afternoon sailfishing in Key West. The forecast wasn’t great, but when you’re fishing in Florida, you learn to make the most of it. Sailfishing has been heating up lately, so we decided to set out for an afternoon of kite fishing to see if we could land a few fish.

The wind was gusting and the edge wasn’t well-defined, so keeping baits in the zone was a constant battle.. but that’s part of sailfishing in Florida, especially when you’re kite fishing offshore.

We left the dock around noon, setting up a full spread of live baits under the kites. Despite the tough conditions, it didn’t take long before the first sailfish showed up and right as we hooked it, a second one attacked another bait. A double header! Absolute chaos, but the kind of chaos you dream about when you’re chasing sails off Key West.

It took some patience, but we finally got tight on two sailfish and brought them boat-side for a clean release. If you’re wondering how to sailfish effectively in windy conditions, it’s all about constant adjustments.

The rest of the afternoon kept us on our toes. We got hooked up to multiple sharks and almost landed a big tuna. Offshore fishing in Florida is rarely predictable.

By the end of the day, we had two sailfish released, a few intense shark battles, and a whole lot of kite-flying practice. The edge never really set up the way we wanted and the wind made things more challenging, but that’s real fishing in Florida. Some days you grind for every bite. Some days the ocean wins. Either way, time spent sailfishing in Key West is always worth it.
