IF YOU NEED A DASH CAM. BE SURE TO HIT THE TAGGED PRODUCTS LISTED IN THIS VIDEO
Welcome back to San Joaquin Audits.
On this channel we take a look at police interaction videos.
Today’s interaction comes to us from the channel Daniel La Salle and it involves the national city police department in the state of California.
This interaction raises a very important question that every American should be asking.
Do police departments profit from writing tickets?
The short answer is Yes—but it’s complicated.
When a ticket is issued, the fine typically goes to local or state governments, funding courts, public safety, and sometimes even the police department itself. While many agencies deny having quotas, there’s often subtle pressure to issue more citations, especially in cities that rely on ticket revenue.
Some departments even receive federal grants for traffic enforcement, meaning the more tickets they write, the more funding they can justify. And let’s not forget red-light cameras,
where private companies share profits with cities—turning law enforcement into a business model.
In extreme cases, excessive ticketing becomes for-profit policing, where communities—especially low-income areas—are targeted to generate revenue. When this becomes the case, it isn’t about public safety anymore. it’s about making money.
So next time you get pulled over, ask yourself: Is this really about the law, or is it just another cash grab?
