I felt few things had to be addressed - from making sure that every living being can enjoy a decent life, to the importance of artists in the world, whom too often we give for granted.
"What would we have done without music, books, films, arts throughout this global lockdown?"

Let´s take advantage of this global-existential-collective crisis to unite and take care of each other and our beautiful planet.
Every living being has been given the gift of life, we all deserve to enjoy it.
Enough with injustice, abuses, racism and inequality.
We are one. People united can never be defeated.
Together we have the power to change things.

3 days ago was my Grandfather Nic´s birthday.
I truly wanted to publish this project on his birthday, because I still can´t realise he is gone. He was my last grandpa, and I lost him in these surreal times because of an apparent virus, in Milano, where I am from.
We couldn´t say goodbye to him, nor giving him a funeral.
I visualised him, and still do, in a Red Candle I carry with me whenever I can.
I wrote him a tribute letter, his story and realised what a courageous life he lived. I understood what he meant with his recurrent advice
"Don´t be afraid to aim high, keep your head up no matter ups and downs."
My grandpa was almost written of as dead, when at 16 years old he picked up a pen bomb during WW2 and lost his hands - he lived his life until 90 years old.
He didn´t have hands but he had the charisma, strength and courage of a Lion. I am sure he left this life with courage and strength.

After writing that letter something clicked in me. I said enough.
I promised myself to keep my head up, believe in myself and my creativity.

Back in 2016 I was going through some of the darkest times of my life and the chorus of "Rise Again" emerged one night in Copenhagen, to rescue me. It gave me hope, strength and, courage. Yet, I could never find the lyrics for it and forgot the song with time.
During this lockdown, fed up with all the surreal circumstances we live in, I promised myself to react and stay strong.
As soon as I applied that mindset, the verses of this song manifested.
I´m grateful I kept that audio from 2016. It´s as if it was buried like a treasure under the sand, waiting for the right time to re-emerge.

I asked myself:
"If this song helped me, rescued me and healed me - why not sharing it with the world and trust that it will help those who might need it too?"
We all went through a lot. And I believe lots of us will feel the message.
I wrote the song on a balcony, on an island, in the middle of the ocean - but music goes beyond any border.
Thank you Gran Canaria once again, for rescuing me and inspiring me.

___ I don´t see it as a coincidence I had all these technical issues with my laptop last minute. The song had to come out today, my grandfather would be happy and proud. Today is actually my father´s birthday - he is the most humble person I know, he went through a lot losing his father. He deserves this surprise - cant´ imagine the pain of losing your parents.
I don´t believe it´s a coincidence this project had to come out today, because in fact, without my dad, there wouldn´t be that memorable "Snapping Fingers" part in the song.
He gave me that suggestion!
