Market Bosworth is a medieval town in the Hinckley District of the Leicester Diocesan Guild of Church Bell Ringers. It is about 6 miles north of Hinckley, and 11 miles west of Leicester. It has strong links with the Battle of Bosworth field, where Richard III was defeated by Henry VII in 1485. The church of St Peter replaces an earlier structure and dates from the 14th and 15th centuries. It consists of a west tower, nave, north & south aisles, vestry and chancel.
The bells are rung from an upstairs room, accessed via a stone spiral staircase. There are eight bells, tenor weight 14-2-5 cwt. Further details of the bells can be found here: https://dove.cccbr.org.uk/detail.php?...
Note on the ringing:
This was recorded in May 2022 at a Hinckley District meeting and is an exerpt of a course of Cambridge Surprise Major.
