On Monday, August 21, 2017, a universal pop song aligned with the universe itself when Bonnie Tyler performed her signature opus 'Total Eclipse of the Heart' aboard the Royal Caribbean cruise 'Oasis of the Seas', backed by Joe Jonas' band, DNCE.
The event coincided with a solar eclipse that lasted for 2 minutes and 40 seconds. Not since February 1979 had a total eclipse been visible from anywhere in the mainland United States.
In the aftermath, 'Total Eclipse of the Heart' propelled to no. 13 on the Billboard Digital Songs chart, no. 1 on iTunes in America, and Nielsen reported a 503% increase in sales.
