August 5, 2025 marks the first day of school at Invictus Nashville Charter School.
Serving students in PreK through second grade, Invictus Nashville opened its doors after years of planning, persistence, and belief in what education can be when families and schools truly partner together.
This video shares the story behind the school, as told through a NewsChannel 5 feature highlighting founder Dr. Brenda Jones. From navigating the charter approval process to overcoming setbacks, appeals, and delays, this is the journey of a longtime educator who refused to give up on her vision for children and community.
Invictus Nashville was born from the belief that students deserve learning environments that honor who they are, where they come from, and who they are becoming. As a first-generation high school graduate who grew up in the James Casey housing projects, Dr. Jones’ story is a testament to perseverance, purpose, and possibility.
We are proud to welcome our founding class of families and grateful to everyone who believed in this dream along the way.
