Kirroughtree Black trail - Heartbreak Hill to Talnotry Hill

Описание: Heartbreak Hill, Black Craig, and Talnotry Hill form the middle part of the 'black' extended trail network at Kirroughtree.

Not our best ride as tired legs from a very active week (rode Big Country & The Merrick, the days before), but it should give those who've never considered riding this trail an idea of what it's all about.

There are no fire road clips and the sections that are pretty much all climbing are limited to a few seconds as they took us far longer than they should and you really don't want to listen to me huffing and puffing for 10 mins.
There's no commentary as it's the first time we've ridden this, but we will defo be back again on fresher legs.

The whole extended trail (red & black) is around 19 mile long and climbs around 2800 ft. It's a fantastic ride and has some amazing views.
The majority of the features are rideable by any competent MTB rider, though there are places that you may have to negotiate on foot. We rode around 85% of the features and would have ridden more. Unfortunately, the natural rock features that are used were like riding on black ice, the black trails don't seem to have been ridden much and are covered in a thin green slim, the bike just slides away under you, even when walking. This did play with one's mind and we were probably over cautious because of this. The same issue didn't occur on the features on the heavily used red trail.
