The Black Irish Band perform an original song about the day the Central Pacific Railroad, in 1869, laid 10-miles of track. The song ballad was written by band member Patrick Michael Karnahan. James Dean Neslon sings lead about the hand-picked Irish crew of rail layers that worked alongside the brave and strong Chinese workers. There was much reseach done to create this song. Every word tells the true story about that famous day in American History. From what records tell us, the day in which 10-miles of track were laid, was a day the Chinese and Ireland worked together in harmony and pride..
The Eight Irish workers names were found as of late on a work time-sheet. like in the 3rd verse of the song, Daley and Sullivan were names of a few that were listed in historical record. We no little of what happen to these men after the railroad was done on May 10th, 1869. At best, lost in the desert and lost to the ages....
The old film footage that was used in this video was shot by John Ford in the early 1920s. The scenes were shot on location in Eastern California and Western Nevada, using old historic railroad equipment.
This song ballad is on the new 25th Black Irish Band release, "Give Us All Yer Whiskey" Buy this Cd album at
