This morning, Prince William County Police held a press conference to address a tragic incident at the Westminster Senior Living Center. Officers responded to a call involving a 26-year-old man armed with a knife and threatening self-harm. Upon arrival, officers were confronted by the man, leading to a fatal police-involved shooting.
Inside the residence, officers found an elderly woman, identified as the man’s grandmother, suffering from multiple serious injuries, including stab wounds and a gunshot wound. She was transported to a hospital and remains in serious but stable condition.
Police Chief Newsham described the situation as a domestic matter, with no prior history of disturbances between the involved parties. An internal investigation is underway, led by the Critical Incident Response Team. Both officers involved have been placed on administrative leave during the investigation.
