Golden Bay has a reputation for being one of the most beautiful parts of New Zealand, so we spent a day exploring a few of its well-known walks — with mixed results.
We started at Labyrinth Rocks, where the paths twist, turn, and occasionally leave you wondering if you’ve gone the right way (we definitely did at one point…). From there we headed to Wainui Falls for a shorter, peaceful walk through native bush, ending at one of the region’s best-known waterfalls. We finished the day at The Grove, a dramatic limestone landscape that felt like stepping into another world.
Some parts were calm and atmospheric, others a bit more chaotic — but together they made for a memorable day out in Golden Bay. This video is a relaxed walkthrough of the highlights, the surprises, and the moments in between.
