In her speech, Yasmine Ahmed highlighted the dire situation in Gaza and the broader region, spotlighting the decades-long impunity and the disturbing levels of international complicity in crimes against the Palestinian people.

Yasmine Ahmed emphasized, "We are witnessing the sixth month of ongoing atrocities in Gaza, amidst decades of crimes, including apartheid inflicted on the Palestinian people by Israel." She pointed out the grim statistics: "Over 30,000 Palestinians have been killed, and 72% of the over 70,000 injured are women and children." She starkly criticized the international community’s response, describing it as "at best impotent and at worst complicit."

Highlighting the severity of the humanitarian crisis, she noted, "As we sit here today in Geneva, #Gaza is literally starving," and accused Israel of using "starvation as a weapon of war." She condemned the acceleration of crimes in the West Bank and described the diminishing hopes for a two-state solution as "dead in the ocean of the destroyed Palestinian future."

In a strong critique of her own country, she said, "The United Kingdom has failed to discharge its responsibilities and comply with its obligations and in fact has consistently attempted to block accountability of Israel for its crimes." Her call to action was clear, urging for an immediate arms embargo and broader sanctions against Israel.
