Parliament will discuss how to tackle the abuse of new technologies to manipulate and radicalise young people through hate speech and antidemocratic discourse.
In a debate with the European Commission, Members of the Parliament will propose ways to address youth radicalisation online. In recent years, MEPs have worked on numerous legislative acts and non-legislative reports to respond to an increasing trend in online manipulation and disinformation, such as:
the AI Act, which addresses the risks created by AI applications
the Digital Services Act, laying down rules for a safer and fairer online world
rules on the transparency of political advertising
a proposal to criminalise hate speech under EU law
the final report of the Special Committee on Foreign Interference
