Poem by Grisha Krivchenia, based on an interview with Ahmed, a Syrian refugee living in Ramtha, Jordan. He awaits the day that he can return his son's body to the soil of his homeland.
Ahmed
If I had just one little bone
from his body,
I would bring it
to Dar'aa, to Syria.
... and place it in the ground!
They robbed me
of my young son's life.
How can I ever get that back?
I cannot rest
'til the war is over,
and I bury my son
in Syria.
