This is week 3 of my ongoing series of making a new project every week. It's an SDF editor for a very specific use case: my own game.
SDF stands for Signed distance function/field. Instead of defining 3D shapes with polygons, we define it with a function that takes a position as input and outputs the closest point to a surface. We can use ray marching with these functions to define 3D scenes.
There are better SDF editors out there, but I needed one for my flight sim project, which relies a lot on fractals. So I made this one. You can place the fractals and other primitives and combine them. I'll definitely use this to create interesting cities and other places.
