Most British troops out in Afghanistan are either based in Helmand or in the capital Kabul.
But two young future RAF pilots are making their mark elsewhere at what is called the 'Thunder Lab' at Shindand Air Base in the Province of Herat.
They are mentoring and training fledgling flyers of the Afghan Air Force, teaching them basic aviation skills in English.
