Trail running Olympic National Forest in Washington | Tyler and Baldy Peaks

Описание: We set out to trail run in the Olympic National Forest in Washington. Our aim was to trail run up Tyler and Baldy Peaks where some amazing views of the Olympic National Forest peaks awaited.

The Olympic National Forest has an area of 628,115 acres and practically surrounds the Olympic National Park and the Olympic mountain range. It's an area we admittedly don't spend enough time. However, we hope to change that!

Tyler and Baldy Peaks are two very highly underrated hikes in our humble opinion. They sit at 6,364 ft and 6,827 ft respectively. The views come quick as the Tyler peak trail is only about 2 miles until you reach the ridge. From there, it's about 0.8 miles over to Tyler Peak and then an additional 2 miles or so over to Baldy from Tyler. The views are simply stunning. On a clear day, expect to see into Canada, the big volcanoes of the Cascades, the San Juan Islands, Port Angeles, Sequim, the Strait of Juan de Fuca, and the surrounding Olympic mountains!

Of note, we would recommend taking the Tyler Peak trail up and back down. It's an easier trail to hike (and navigate). The Baldy Peak trail felt much steeper and was a little harder to follow up near the ridgeline.
