I’ve always been obsessed with dogs, and I’ m now obsessed with making the best dog beds available.

Our dogs are active, but they still spend a lot of time in their beds, where I reckon they should be comfortable. Like us they suffer from arthritis and general ageing. Alongside exercise, and keeping them trim, a good bed has an important role to play.

The Mattress is key, and memory foam is great, but unless it’s the correct density and bonded to a firmer base, the dog just sinks through to the floor. This creates pressure points - precisely the effect you are trying to avoid. My wife Ali, a vet, helped design our own composite, orthopaedic Mattress.

Next came the Topper, which had to be comfortable and practical. Wool fleece beat all the synthetic alternatives. It quickly wicks away moisture, and also has excellent thermal properties - cool in the summer and warm in the winter.

The fleece is also naturally antibacterial, and the keratin breaks down bad smelling bacteria - so it’s self-cleaning to a degree. It’s easily to take off and machine wash; but most of the time an occasional shake outside, or hoover, is all that is needed.
The side cushions are foam filled, so hold their shape, and provide a comfortable place to rest a weary head.

We use a variety of fantastic tweeds for the Covers. But it isn’t a case of form over function. These beds are tough, and like the Topper, the Covers are removable and machine washable. This bed here is two years old, shared daily by a couple of dogs, and has never needed a wash.

We were adamant that our beds would be made in Great Britain from great British materials. Our factory in Derbyshire make the best dog bed available; a bed that is good for your dog, built to last, and that will look great in your home.
