Just bought a 88 Tune Bass Maniac bass, and strung it with Piccolo bass strings (+ 1 octave, like a guitar).
The bass is full scale 34', so the strings have a very hard tension, but its good since, you can transfer your technique directly between normal bass strings and piccolo bass strings - meaning that the playing is equally hard/easy on both "platforms". (Im going to string a shortscale again soon, thats easier to play and bend)
Having fun in the high register, listening and transcribing from guitarists like John Scofield and George Benson. The loop is from a George Benson song "P Park" from the album "Thats's Rigth" - lots of great stuff on that! Its in the key of "E funk" - Em7 or E9, no clear third present so you can play both minor and Major dominant lines (i start in minor but towards the end im going into a more dominant mode)
