Quick Bicycle Frame Cleanup & Polish - Tips and Hacks for Bike Maintenance

Описание: For those times you don't need to do a full bike wash with degreasing followed by soap & water, or on those cold days where you can't hose down you bike, here is a quick method on how to clean and how to polish a bike frame.

2. Now we can do a quick bicycle frame cleanup and polish:
a. What you'll need are some baby wipes from your local grocery store, a clean cloth (preferable a microfiber cloth although an old T-shirt will do) and a can of Pledge - use the one that is an enhancing polish – the others contain oils for wood floors and leave a residual of oil on the bike which will pick up dust and dirt.
b. Wipe down frame with a baby wipe. Before you throw away the baby wipe, clean the tires while you examine the casing for cracks or rips.
c. Dry the bike frame with a clean cloth – we throw these in the wash for use on another day.
d. Spay some Pledge on another cloth, wipe and shine. Keep the polish away from handlebar tape, wheel rims and rim brakes or disc brakes if you have them.

Note: Some prefer waxing with Simoniz Paste Wax or Turtle Wax because they are longer lasting and water repentant, however, they do take longer to apply and don't use them on a matte finish or you'll loose the matte look.

The quick clean and polish can be used on your road bike or mountain bike should become part of your routine bike maintenance but does not replace the fact that you should periodically do a thorough degreasing, wash up and wipe followed by lubricating the chain and derailleur pivot points when things begin to build up grease, dirt and muck from the road.
