Savile Town Wharf is a marina in Dewsbury with original 19th century buildings now occupied by the award-winning Leggers Inn and a new children’s play area. Come for great views, peaceful surroundings, picnics, bike rides and walks. The wharf, initially constructed in the nineteenth century, is still a working boatyard but has much to offer members of the general public and cyclists, walkers and boaters will find a warm welcome. A coffee shop situated in an old stable block and the popular Leggers Inn which overlooks the wharf are well worth a visit. Once the busy hub of transport in the area, Savile Town Wharf is steeped in history and tradition. Built in the nineteenth century, this beautiful stone building was once the stables that housed the working horses that pulled barges along the Calder & Hebble Navigation.
