Chunking is when we take blocks of a sentence and we connect them fluidly.

When you can identify a phrase that needs to have that smooth connection, it will help you understand where you need to pause, where you need to connect words and it will even help you with your intonation.

In this video I break down specific sentences with my student to understand where to connect words and how best to do it.

It is important to remember that there isn’t just one way to chunk. It depends on how you want it to sound. So try this out with many different sentences! You will eventually understand what sounds best for you!
